Letter to The Editor from Judy Thomas Following a Meeting With Congresswomen Susie Lee

32

Dear Editor,

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate to attend a meeting with Representative Susie Lee. I had the chance to share my personal perspective on senior care in Nevada, specifically the benefits I receive through my Medicare Advantage plan. I am happy that I was able to engage with a Congresswoman who shows empathy when it comes to seniors and the issues that affect our community.

I was especially happy to speak with the Congresswoman about the SilverSneakers program. Provided through my Medicare Advantage Plan, I can attend many engaging fitness classes held in parks, community centers and other places around my neighborhood. These classes encourage me to get out and stay healthy.

Perhaps the most important thing to me when I think about health care is affordability. Congresswoman Lee agreed that health care costs are already a burden for many families and seniors in Nevada. But with my Medicare Advantage plan, I can expect low out of pocket costs and virtually zero copays and premiums. I know that I get the best possible care at a price I can afford.

I am thrilled to have met with Congresswoman Lee to discuss such timely and important health care topics. It’s great to see a legislator be so mindful and attentive to issues affecting seniors and to see her support of programs like Medicare Advantage.

Sincerely,

Judy Thomas, CMC and MA senior
