Palms Casino Resort announced the installation of Damien Hirst’s, Demon with Bowl. The nearly 60-foot-tall sculpture of a headless demon, that first appeared in Hirst’s “Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable” exhibition in Venice, Italy, will be showcased in the hotel’s new pool, debuting in Spring 2019.
The work is a bronze from the edition, the resin was an exhibition copy that was made only for Venice and then destroyed as the weight of the bronze was too heavy for Palazzo Grassi.
Demon with Bowl, is the latest piece of art by Hirst to be showcased at Palms and joins the hotel’s extensive art collection, part of the current $690M property-wide renovation, which includes some of the most notable and unique contemporary art rarely to be displayed publicly in one setting.
Palms’ collection includes original pieces by globally renowned artists Damien Hirst, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, on loan from the personal art collections of Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, alongside commissioned creations by leading contemporary artists such as Adam Parker Smith, Jason REVOK, Eric Haze, Scott Hove, Felipe Pantone, James Jean and Timothy Curtis.
